Thesius Prime (Gliese 581 B) is a gas giant and the second planet in the Gliese 581 system.
Description[edit | edit source]
Viewed from a distance, Thesius Prime's surface appears smooth and greenish-blue. Its orbit lies within Gliese 581's habitable zone.
A visible ring system, various small asteroids and at least four moons orbit the planet. Two of these moons are known to be massive enough to retain an atmosphere and support life, implying a much larger mass for Thesius Prime itself.
Given its evident size and appearance, Thesius Prime is most likely a gas giant.
Moons[edit | edit source]
- Unidentified moon (Gliese 581b-1)
- Unidentified moon (Gliese 581b-2)
- Proteus 2 (Gliese 581b-3)
- Aziel (Gliese 581b-4)
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
Thesius Prime is not accessible to players, but can be seen in the skies of its moons and from orbit.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Thesius Prime's real-world counterpart may be Gliese 581b, the largest planet in the real Gliese 581 system, which has a mass similar to that of Neptune (to which Thesius Prime bears some resemblance). However, the real Gliese 581b orbits too close to its star to lie within the habitable zone.
